Her new life was not a disappointment. Sara’s happiness knew no bounds. Everything was perfect, Daniel made sure of it. He didn’t try to hide the way things were between them from his brothers. They’d known, to a certain degree, how he felt about her. Now, after the annulment, he made no bones about their relationship. Every moment they shared was a celebration.

And he couldn’t keep his hands off her, he didn’t even try. They made love morning, noon, and night. Daniel would take breaks, just to come in for a kiss. One kiss would become two, and two would become three. He fulfilled the fantasy of giving her a bath, kneeling at the side of the tub and washing her gently, before crawling in to join her. More water was on the floor than in the tub when they finished, but neither cared.

Seemingly by mutual agreement, Sam, Easy, and Benjen, found much to do away from the old rock house. Meal time and bedtime were the only times they sought out her and Daniel’s company, otherwise, they gave them privacy.

One evening, Sara felt guilty when she realized what they were doing. “Hey, why don’t we do something together tonight?” She offered the suggestion as she set a huge platter of fried chicken in the center of the dining table.

“Uh…man, this smells good.” Benjen speared a thigh. “I’ve got plans,” he stammered, “we’ve got plans, Sara.” He caught Easy’s gaze and bugged his eyes as if asking for help.

“Plans.” Easy repeated his claim. “Big plans.” He stared at Sam.

“Yea,” Sam said, then delayed his comment by taking a big drink of iced tea, “plans to…uh…” He stared at the table, seeing bowls of mashed potatoes, green beans, and black-eyed peas. “Break up a garden patch! Yea!” He seemed so proud of himself. “Daniel wants you to have a garden.”

Daniel smirked. “I do want Sara to have a garden.” He took a big bite from a chicken leg. “You three can hang around tonight, though. You don’t have to spend another night at the local bar.” He winked at Sara. “Sara and I want your company. We have plenty of time to ourselves when we retire to our room.”

Sara choked on her mashed potatoes, which was hard to do with mashed potatoes. She felt herself blushing and started giggling when Benjen fanned her with his napkin. “Stop, I’m fine.” She busied herself by slipping bites of chicken underneath the table to Hope. “Why don’t we watch a movie together or play monopoly or marbles or something?”

“A movie sounds good,” Easy said, “we could watch the new Avengers, it just hit Netflix.”

“Great.” Daniel nodded, licking his fingers. “We’ll have popcorn.” His gaze caught Sara’s and he winked at her. He could barely eat for smiling. He’d never been so happy in his life. “I think I’m going to hire a contractor to clear out a house place on the new property.”

“Thinking about building?” Benjen looked between Sara and Daniel with interest.
